The Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry (SIOC), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), founded in May, 1950, is a famous comprehensive research institute at home and abroad with long history integrated of scientific research and education. Now it has totally more than 440 graduate students at school. Being an ideal environment for students’ further study, SIOC owns newly-built laboratory buildings, completed experimental conditions, advanced instruments and equipments, good academic atmosphere and traditions as well as the apartment-style student dormitories.

At present, SIOC has 12 labs, including two state key laboratories (State Key Lab of Bio-organic and Natural Products Chemistry, State Key Lab of Organometallic Chemistry), and one CAS Key Lab of Organofluorine Chemistry.

SIOC has an active and experienced tutor team organized by 9 academicians of CAS and 98 senior professionals. 27 of them are selected into CAS “100 Talents Program” while 19 of them have won National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars; 70 of them are granted as Ph.D supervisors, including 48 doctoral tutors and 17 oversea cooperative tutors.

In recent ten years, 9 SIOC graduate students have won the national excellent doctor degree dissertations.This achievement ranks first in all chemistry majored research organizations in China. Moreover, 67 graduate students from SIOC have won the president scholarship of CAS, which is started in 1989.

Up to now, 2208 graduate students have been trained in SIOC. Among them 466 have been awarded Ph.D. degrees and 695 M.S. degrees.
