The 4th Conference of the 4th Academic Committee of the State Key Laboratory of Life Organic Chemistry, SIOC was held in the Institute on December 19, 2008. There were 13 committee members attending the conference. The relevant leaders at the Department of Chemistry of National Natural Science Foundation of China, High-Tech Bureau and Basic Sciences Bureau of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the leaders at the Institute also attended this conference.

The conference was presided over by Academician Lin Guoqiang, the director of the Academic Committee and Researcher Ma Dawei, the head of laboratory, made working report, Researcher Yu Biao introduced the use of special funds of the key laboratory, Researcher Liu Wen and Tang Gongli and Zhou Jiahai introduced the three key projects that was organized by the Laboratory in detail. In the end, the committee members reviewed the application of open subjects of the Key Laboratory in 2008.

The members of the Academic Committee fully affirmed the development of the State Key Laboratory of Life Organic Chemistry in recent years: Establish its own research platform of chemicobiology, each research group carries out research in the manner of cross cooperation and obtains good progress, research groups cooperate with each other with good style of study; Pay attention to open subjects. The initial point of application of open subject is high, which makes the Key Laboratory play an role in radiation effect really; The direction of the organized key projects is definite, the key projects stick to the features of life organic chemistry and the subjects intercross with each other, which are the subjects we want to do. In the mean time, the committee members made good suggestions: Our subject research should link up with the national strategic planning closely, make research in advance and prepare research subject specially; While building up talent team, pay attention to the establishment of instrument platform; Develop the features of structural chemistry and analytical chemistry in life system based on organic chemistry and achieve originality research really.

At the conference, everyone made heated communication and discussion and the committee members made practical suggestions on the evaluation of the key laboratories that will be carried out by the Fund Committee of the Ministry of Science and Technology soon, which will promote our further good development greatly.
