The Symposium, cohosted by Shanghai Institution of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and by the Department of Chemistry, Fudan University, attracted over 400 representatives from 11countries and regions.

The opening ceremony of the symposium was hosted by Mr. Shuli You, Secretary of the organizational committee and researcher of Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. As the co-chairs of the symposium, Mr. Biao Jiang, Researcher of Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Mr. Dongyuan Zhao, academician of the Department of Chemistry Fudan University, gave the welcome speeches. Mr. Yongjun Chen, associate supervisor of the Division of Chemistry of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Mr. Canping Du, director of the Division of Chemistry of the National Natural Science Foundation of China , and Mr. Rong Chen also attended the symposium.

The symposium, with multiple research directions in organic and inorganic chemistry, emphasized the current development situation and the future trend in this interdisciplinary. It displayed the scientific achievements and academic trends in the fields of organic and inorganic chemistry with different exchange styles like symposium report, invitation report, oral report, post comment and exhibitions. During the symposium, 14reports, 48invited reports, 58 oral reports and 130 wall-paper reports were arranged. Many well-known chemists were invited to address in the symposium like Gregory C.
