Implementation symposium and Expert Consultation Meeting of National Major Scientific Research Program “Protein Structure High Efficiency Determination and High Efficiency Preparation Technology” of “Protein Research” were held smoothly in Chang Gong Hall of the Institute during February 20 ~ 21, 2009.

Researcher Ding Kuiling, the deputy director of Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Researcher Yu Biao, the director assistant, made opening ceremony and welcome speech seperately. Liu Maili (Wuhan Institute of Physics and Mathematics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, responsible person of Subject 2 ), the chief Researcher of “Protein Structure High Efficiency Determination and High Efficiency Preparation Technology” project, gave a general introduction to us. Researcher Cao Chunyang, the responsible person of Subject 1, Researcher Dong Yuhui (Beijing Institute of High Energy Physics, CAS), the responsible person of Subject 3, Researcher Xu Yanhui (Fudan University), the responsible person of Subject 4 and backbones of each subject such as Researcher Zhou Jiahai, Associate Professor Yang Zhong (Fudan University), Associate Researcher Zhang Xu (Wuhan Institute of Physics and Mathematics), Researcher Deng Feng (Wuhan Institute of Physics and Mathematics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences), Professor Wang Wenning (Fudan University), Associate Professor Wen Wenyu (Fudan University) gave detailed report on the hardware that each research group has, resources that can be shared, working plan in two years and the demand of coordination of other research groups respectively. Researcher Ding Jianping (Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry), Professor Wang Xiaoning (South China University of Technology), Professor Li Yixue (Shanghai Center for Bioinfornation Technology) were specially invited to give opinions and suggestions on the target setting, specific implementation and evaluation standard of the project. Professor Xu Zhinan (Zhejiang University) and Associate Professor Wang Jufang (South China University of Technology) were invited to give concise reports on their current research results in protein acellular in vitro expression and application of protein batch expression technology, etc.

In the meeting, everyone had heated communication and discussion, determined the research emphasis of the whole subject and its four subsidiary subjects preliminarily and defined the division of work and cooperation of each research team. Experts also gave their practical proposals and provided a good beginning for the implementation of project in the future.
