On January 18, 2013, the 2012 State Science and Technology Awards Convention was held at the People’s Great Hall, Beijing. China’s top leaders and prominent scientists attended the gathering. TANG Yong and his colleagues SUN Xiuli, YE Song, ZHOU Jian, KANG Yanbiao won the second-class State Award for Natural Sciences for their contribution to the “‘Sidearm Strategy’ and Its Application in the Stereoselectivity Control and the Catalytic Organic Reaction”. TANG attended the ceremony on behalf of his research team.

　  The State Scientific and Technological Awards is one of the highest honors for scientists who achieved major breakthroughs in cutting-edge scientific and technological studies.
