The 8th Lecture of interdiscipline of the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry took place in the hall of the library building on the afternoon July 2nd, 2008. The lecture, which was hold by Mr. Guoqiang Lin, Headmaster of the Academic committee, invited Mr Yukui Zhang, academician in Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences with the topic of the Progress of chromatography.

Mr. Yukui Zhang makes great contribution to the development and popularization of the chromatography in China with the continuous researches in the basic theories and the new technical development applications. The lecture began with the warmest applause after the brief introduction of Mr. Yukui Zhang by Mr. Guoqiang Lin.

Mr. Zhang, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, first introduced the background of the analysis in complex system, followed by the new methods of high efficient extraction and high sensitive detector. He emphasized the new developments of Chromatographic filler, the overall material and Multidimensional Chromatography, including Collagen matrix, hybrid silica, Polymer matrix fill, the overall material of silica and polymer, and analysis of Multidimensional Chromatography. For example, they detected over 6000 parts in Cigarette and over 30 parts in Agastache though comprehensive two-dimensional gas chromatography, besides; he introduced Multi-dimensional chromatography system like Microcolumn liquid chromatography -Capillary Gas Chromatography system, Normal-reverse phase chromatography system, and ion exchange- reverse phase chromatography system. Then Mr. Zhang illustrated this analytical methods used in the major scientific areas like Proteome, Metabolomics, and Environmental Analysis. After the lecture, researchers and students exchanged ideas with Mr. Yukui Zhang about their interested parts.
