The 7th Lecture of interdiscipline of the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry took place in the hall of the library building on the afternoon June 30th, 2008. The lecture, which was hold by Mr. Guoqiang Lin, Headmaster of the Academic committee, invited Mr Dongyuan Zhao, academician in Fudan University with the topic of assembly and application of the Ordered Mesoporous Polymers and carbon materials. Over 100 researchers and students in the institute joined the lecture.

On behalf of the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Mr Lin appreciated Mr Dongyuan Zhao’s coming for the lecture, and gave a brief introduction of Mr. Zhao’s experiences. Mr Zhao mainly focuses his research in the following sectors like Microassembly and Macrocontrol of new Ordered Mesoporous Materials, the study on synthetic assembly, growth and their physical properties of the Mesoporous Molecular Sieve Materials, the design of the structure and synthesis of the new Microporous Molecular Sieve Materials, and the synthesis of new ordered nanomaterials.

During the lecture, Mr. Zhao firstly introduced the new progress made in the synthesis of ordered mesoporous materials, e.g. the synthesis of new structure of Molecular sieve like ordered mesoporous silica and Titanium dioxide. Then he presented the new breakthroughs made in recent years in carbon materials like new ways to increase the properties of carbon materials, new methods to control the appearance and shape of the carbon material particles, its new applications in super capacitor. After the lecture, Mr. Zhao was entitled as Pore-making Master. The lecture was received with great enthusiasm, and the participants proposed their questions later enthusiastically.
