On the afternoon of September 11, 2008, The 10th Interdisciplinary Lecture of Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry was held in the library lecture hall of the Institute. This lecture was presided over by Researcher Jing Kuiling, the deputy party secretary, and the specially-invited lecturer was Academician Lu Wanzhe at the Research Institute of Petroleum Processing of China Petrochemical Corporation, who gave a lecture titled “Application of Online Near Infrared Spectrum in Petrochemical Industry”.
Firstly, Researcher Ding Kuiling thanked Academician Lu for giving a lecture upon invitation on behalf of the Institute, introduced the experience of Academician Lu briefly and issued the certificate of interdisciplinary lecture of Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry to her. Academician Lu is a famous expert in analytical chemistry and petrochemistry in China and has been engaged in the analysis and research of chemistry and instrument in the field of petroleum and petrochemical industry for many years. She ever presided over and evaluated the crude oil resources of China systematically, provided scientific basis for the reasonable processing of crude oil and has participated in the resolution of problems in production for many times; She instructed and established a complete set of composition analysis method from natural gas to residual oil, in which she developed elastic quartz capillary tube chromatographic column and research the new packed capillary tube chromatography successfully, fast analysis of refinery gas and new porous layer capillary tube chromatography to analyze the hydrocarbon composition of different carbon number in gas, etc; In recent years, she mainly devoted herself to the research and development of near infrared spectrum technology.
In this lecture, Academician Lu introduced the near infrared spectrum technology and its advantages as well as its application in online analysis and organic chemistry research of petrochemical industry. The near infrared spectrum analysis has many advantages such as simple, fast and don’t destroy sample. Academician Lu specifically introduced the application of NIR-6000 online near infrared spectrometer and online near infrared spectral analysis in catalytic reforming industrial equipment and MTBE equipment measurement feeding enol ratio, etc, and talked about her prospect and experience. She also introduced the application of online near infrared analysis in the research of organic chemistry, which can meet the requirements of high flux and fast speed, by taking OH and NH as examples.
After the lecture, Researcher Ding Kuiling reaffirmed the goal of interdisciplinary lecture and hoped the scientific research personnel in the Institute can further expend the view by inviting experts in the filed related to organic chemistry. In the end, Academician Lu answered the questions that we were interested.
